Nelsa began her career at Lonmin's Precious Metals Refinery in 1991 as a Laboratory Chemist, and over nearly three decades rose through every level of the organisation — from Plant Chemist and Superintendent through to Head of Production and ultimately Head of Technical for Smelting and Refining at what became Sibanye Stillwater.

Throughout that career she led the implementation of breakthrough technologies including third-generation rhodium and iridium separation plants, the development of pure platinum powder for additive manufacturing, and the upgrade of the Nickel circuit for battery-grade nickel sulphate production. She was certified as a Master Black Belt in Six Sigma in 2009, and delivered over R15 million in bottom-line savings within her business unit alone.

In 2020, Nelsa founded Solutions 4U to bring that depth of experience directly to clients who need senior technical counsel — without the overhead and dilution of a large consulting firm. S4U has since served both South African and international clients across PGM processing, energy transition, and circular economy projects.
